Team JAJO raced in the Ocean Race 2023, securing an impressive second place. This remarkable yacht boasts a storied history, having competed twice before under TEAM BRUNEL, finishing second in the 2014-15 edition and third in 2017-18. Notably, it claimed victory in several race legs and came tantalizingly close to overall triumph in its last campaign.
Originally built in 2013 and launched in early 2014, the boat underwent a comprehensive refit by Royal Huisman in the summer of 2022. Key upgrades included a fresh underwater paint job, a newly applied non-skid deck surface, and Seadek installation in the cockpit, enhancing both performance and safety.
The yacht's structural integrity has been meticulously ensured through full NDT testing by QI, covering the hull, deck, keel, mast, boom, rudders, and all components of the canting keel system, including bearings, axles, and cylinders.
In December 2022 and January 2023, further enhancements were made, focusing on advanced electronics, hydraulics, and sails. A significant portion of the deck gear was replaced or upgraded, including bearings, blocks, jammers, and strops, ensuring the vessel is race-ready and built for peak performance.
